Weddings are occasions of lasting traditions and rituals. All over the world, people's beliefs, culture and history has affected this memorable event. It is common knowledge that wedding ceremonies are different all over the world, but did you know that the diversity extends even on the wedding night? Read this to know the interesting activities that couples, families and friends do before letting the newlyweds reach a night of wedding bliss!

It is customary in an American wedding for the bride and groom to hop into a get-away car with tin cans attached to the rear of the car, off to their secret honeymoon, immediately after the wedding. Did you know that this rooted from escaping a Celtic wedding night tradition?

In Gaelic cultures, it was a tradition for friends and family of the couple to mess with the couple's wedding night. In the olden days, when couples spend their wedding night in a barn, girl friends of the bride would dress her for bed and ask each of the male guests to kiss her good night. The friends would do other things to prevent the groom from seeing her new wife. Even if the couple finally comes together, they would disturb the union by making noise outside the barn and even peep into the couple, while drinking the night away. The couple waits for everyone to get too drunk to eventually leave them alone. This kind of prank is something that newly weds want to get away from, thus, they keep their honeymoon destination a secret and speed away after the wedding.

More Celtic wedding night ritual come from Scotland: sleeping in the barn on the first night, sprinkling water on the marriage bed for luck and staying for a week with the bride's parents before moving into the newlywed's home.

The Germans and the French do a similar tradition of "disturbing" the wedding night, called Chiverie, known in the US as Shivaree. They make noise outside the place where the couple spends their first night together. Some even play around with the room where they will stay, like put plenty of balloons, spread food all over the bed, and hide alarm clock everywhere, just for fun.

The Romans believed that it was bad fortune when the bride stumbles when entering the newlywed's house for the first time. Thus, after the wedding, male friends of the couple would carry her over the doorstep. At present, the groom is expected to do the job himself.

In Benin, western Africa, they value virginity. The bride's mother rewards her with cash if she's a virgin at their wedding night! In the morning, the sheets that the couples used are inspected for bloodstains. Some mothers even fly the flag out the window, showing off their daughter's bloodstained nightgown. Seriously!

For the Chinese, at the night of the wedding, candles designed with a phoenix and a dragon is lit to drive the evil spirit away. The newlyweds will drink wine from goblets tied together with a red ribbon, while arms intertwined. Then the bride will be given half-raw dumplings, which symbolize prosperity.

Marquesasian (from Polynesia) brides have a notable wedding night ritual: they are expected to have sex with all the male guests and then saving the groom for last. Now that can make your wedding night … extremely unforgettable!

Wedding Planning - Choosing the Gown

Posted by Wealth Group | 1:25 AM | 0 comments »

The dress is always the highlight of all wedding fantasies and make-believes. Ever since their youth, people will most often dream of a beautiful princess-bride in a snowy white, ethereal wedding dress of stunning beauty. It comes as no surprise that choosing the perfect wedding dress for your wedding will prove to be one of the most challenging and exciting part of planning your wedding.

Marriage is – ideally – an once-in-a-lifetime event. There isn't much leeway to practice or make mistakes. So to make the bride's entrance down the carpet perfect and memorable, one must take great pains to ensure that everything is done correctly – down to every little detail on the wedding dress.

From watching fantasy-like weddings on TV, or reading about them in books and magazines, or hearing about them from other people, many brides-to-be form an image in their minds of the kind of wedding dress they would like to wear on their wedding. Many people take a watch and learn stance as they formulate, plan and dream up their ideal wedding dress.

If your time has come, and you are shopping for the perfect dress to make your wedding dreams come true, then you have come to the right place. Here are a few tips to help you get over the wedding dress hump will less sweat.

1. The Dress Comes First

Although it may go both ways, the theme of your dress should follow your desired theme – or vice versa. Some couples choose a theme before choosing a gown, and in effect, they make the gown fit the theme they have chosen. But for some people, the choice of gown comes first, and the theme of the wedding follows the gown's theme. So if the gown that catches the bride's fancy is ultra beaded and formal, then the wedding may tend to be more formal. If the bride chooses a less formal dress, then the wedding may follow a less formal route.

2. Don't Overwhelm Yourself with Choices

Yes, it may be tempting to try every gown that comes your way. But what if you find yourself buried under a pile of 20 or so gowns you think you really like and can't make a decision? That sort of scenario will prove to be a terrible headache – not to mention a great source of stress.

To avoid this, try making decisions in stages. You could try an 'American Idol' style way of choosing a gown. You could vote off the least liked one and then reevaluate the remaining gowns.

Another method is trying 5 gowns and then choosing two of the best. These 'champions' will be pit against 5 more new gowns. Continue the tournament until you get to the perfect gown.

It may become tempting to say, "Aw, but that other gown might have been better." Try to make sure you make your final decision among 5 gowns. If you end up with too many to choose from you may get overwhelmed and end up choosing an inferior gown, or choosing the perfect gown but forever asking yourself whether you made the right decision or not.

Choose Wisely

And choose a wise companion; take along one or two of your closest friends or confidants who know a thing or two about wedding dresses and style. Their advice will come in handy when choosing a gown. Also, make sure you check the durability and quality of the gown, the material and the accessories. You don't want your gown falling apart on you during the ceremonies.

The Man Who Brought America to the Moon

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:25 PM | 0 comments »

On October 4, 1957, Russia launches the first artificial satellite in history - Sputnik. To many Americans this is a shocking event. Few days later Werner von Braun, America's leading rocket scientist, says in an interview: "We consider the control of space around the earth much like, shall we say, the great Maritime powers consider the control of the seas in the 16th through the 18th Century, and they say if we want to control this planet, we have to control the space around it". Dr. Werner von Braun is a German engineer who created the V-2 rocket for Hitler in World War II, he now works for the US Army. For years, von Braun has dreamed of exploring space. And many people think that he brought America to the Moon. But this is not true. Now I'm going to tell you what I've learned.

In the 1950s, a tiny group of engineers was already planning trips to the moon. They were called the Space Task Group - visionaries dreaming remarkable dreams that conceived and directed the nation's first human-in-space program. They were the people who had to analyze and decide how to go to the moon.

The most basic decision that should be made is about the flight. There are two possibilities. The first, Direct Ascent, uses a single rocket to send a spacecraft to the moon. It's the way people have always imagined going. But sending the spacecraft all that way will take an enormous rocket, larger than the Statue of Liberty - a monster called "NOVA." Werner von Braun suggests a different way - Earth Orbit Rendezvous (EOR). EOR uses two smaller rockets. One sends up the spacecraft. The other sends up the fuel. The astronauts rendezvous with the fuel tank, fill up their spacecraft, and head for the moon. Direct Ascent is simple, but needs a huge rocket. Earth Orbit Rendezvous uses smaller rockets, but it's more complicated. Picking the mode will be the most critical decision in the Apollo program, because it determines everything: the spacecraft, the rocket, the training, budget, and schedule. The wrong choice means losing to the Russians, and maybe not reaching the moon at all. The answer was one nobody expected. The engineer who lobbied for it was an outsider - he didn't belong to the Space Task Group and never worked for von Braun. Almost no one welcomed the idea, but he never gave up. The story of his struggle is largely unknown, but the plan he promoted got America to the moon. His name is Dr. John C. Houbolt.

In 1959, Houbolt says that both plans, Direct Ascent and Earth Orbit Rendezvous, will fail, because of the enormous rocket needed:

"It was a vehicle about the size of an Atlas. Down at the Cape, it takes 3000 men, a launch pad, and a launch facility to get an Atlas off the ground from the earth. They were going to land something the size of an Atlas on the moon, backwards, with no help whatsoever. I thought that was preposterous".

The pristine and uncrowded beaches and warm, sparkling blue water are just a few of the benefits of honeymooning in Hawaii. Hawaii also has a culture all of its own and offers its guests the feeling of being in a foreign land.

Although it is more expensive than most other popular locations, Bora Bora is another truly romantic honeymoon destination that is well worth the price. The relative serenity of the islands creates an atmosphere that is wonderful for relaxing with your new partner.

Although the majestic mountain ranges and availability of cozy cabins in the woods make Colorado a romantic getaway location, it is truly famous for its abundance of winter sports. Choosing to honeymoon in Colorado affords a couple a romantic destination that also has a variety of adventure activities available.

Las Vegas can also be a romantic honeymoon destination. Although it is known as, "Sin City," and is famous for its ostentatious glamour and gambling, Las Vegas can also be a romantic location for a couple enjoying their first few blissful days of marriage. The area offers a wealth of beautifully appointed hotel rooms in a variety of styles. This variety ensures that there is something for every couple in Las Vegas.

European locations such as England, Spain and Italy are also popular romantic honeymoon destinations. The traditions and culture that surround these areas make them unique in offering a couple the chance to surround themselves with the allure of history. Additionally if the couple does not speak the native language, it gives the couple a sense of being all alone even in a crowd which lends itself beautifully to the romantic atmosphere.

If you find yourself confused by what you've read to this point, don't despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.

Mexico is another popular romantic honeymoon location. Many of the resorts in the Riviera Maya are all inclusive and some even offer room service free of charge.

Although, it is known more for innocent fun and adventure, Florida can also be a romantic honeymoon destination. Florida offers an assortment of entertainment options from beaches to theme parks and nightclubs. Enjoying an afternoon of rides and attractions at a theme park is an excellent way for a couple to grow closer together. Newlyweds are sure to find everything that they are looking for in Florida.

Costa Rica is another romantic honeymoon locale that offers couples so much more than just beautiful beaches and sparkling waters. Costa Rica is an excellent choice for a couple who is looking for both romance and adventure on their honeymoon. Here you can spend your days kayaking, white water rafting or scuba diving in some of the most beautiful waters around.

New York City is another romantic destination for newlyweds to spend their honeymoon. There is so much to see and do in the city that a couple may find themselves wishing to come back for the first anniversary. Now that wasn't hard at all, was it? And you've earned a wealth of knowledge, just from taking some time to study an expert's word on honeymoon.

Dry, Cracked Heels - How To Handle!

Posted by Wealth Group | 10:25 AM | 0 comments »

I recently moved to Florida and off came the shoes and on went an old pair of sandals. I love the outdoors, - walking on the beach – but within a couple of weeks the skin on the back of my heels started to split. It was painful!

There were two things here - One, I had to quickly do something about the open split and figure out how it was happening. Well, three things, I had to get it to heal up as well. And make sure it did not happen again – I guess that's four.

So, the first thing I did was to put some lotion on my foot. The lotion I used has honey and aloe vera amongst other things. It is called Thentix "A Touch of Honey". The anti bacterial properties of these two ingredients and some others helped to prevent infection. The next thing I had to do was somehow close and protect the fissure or split. This is not easy on feet. Band-aids don't work. They won't stick to the skin on the heel. I've done some research on different kinds of glues and from this I know there are medical superglues that are used for suturing. There are certain types of cyanoacrylate* (*the technical term for super glue type glues) that are used for this. Well, I didn't have one of those and had no idea where to get one but I did have some Miracle Glue which has similar properties. Now it is pretty runny so be careful not to try and put this on your foot when sitting on the sofa or over a carpet or kitchen floor. If you spill it, don't expect to get it off. So, once the lotion has dried, apply some of the glue to the split an allow it to dry. Open to the air like this it will take a little while. I would not advise trying to wipe off any excess with your finger unless you don't mind hobbling around for a few hours with your finger attached to your foot. Once it is dry you may want to wear shoes and socks for a day or so. Then each night before I go to bed I put some of the Thentix on my whole heel to keep it moist, supple and allow healing.

Putting the lotion on each day like this helps soften the skin as there was quite a callus built up on the back of my heel and the pressure pushing on the back of my heel with lousy sandals was helping the skin to crack. You could also use a pumice stone or something similar to rub off some of the skin. Take it easy on this or you are going to create more problems.

The causes of cracks or fissures in the feet can be caused from: anything that is putting undue pressure on the heel – standing too long – particularly in ill fitting shoes or sandals; obesity; as well as some diet problems and other general skin conditions.

Is it an Ongoing Problem?

On top of the obvious immediate handlings I would advise seeing a nutritionist or doctor if this is an ongoing problem. A podiatrist or chiropractor may need to be consulted as well to see if posture or other foot problems are the cause. Eczema or psoriasis can also be contributing factors. Using the Thentix – A Touch of Honey and the Miracle Glue will help the symptoms in this case but one should definitely see a doctor or nutritionist to search out and handle the cause. The problem could be something as simple as a vitamin or mineral deficiency.

The same sort of problem can happen with hands – particularly the ends of the fingers. Often people working with chemicals or drying agents like mortar will have problems. Have a look at bricklayers' hands sometime. The ends of his fingers often have cracks in the skin that are very slow to heal. I would suggest the same thing: make sure that the cracks are clean and dry and apply some of the lotion. When that is dry glue run a bead of glue along the fissure. I would not use just any type of glue for this – if you can find one that's approved for skin all the better. And use honey lotion as the healing properties of honey can be quite dramatic.

Doing the above, I have been back to wearing sandals with no other ill effects.

Martin Jones has filled the Thentix website with useful uses of Thentix "A Touch of Honey".

Why Look For Honey In A Skin Lotion?

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:25 PM | 0 comments »

Why do people use a skin lotion? What are they trying to fix?

For some it's just for the comfort level. They have dry skin or mild sunburn. The problem may be as simple as revitalizing the skin after washing the dishes. Others may have a more serious condition such as cracks in the skin of the feet or hands, acne, psoriasis or eczema.

The causes of the various skin problems can obviously be different in each case. Causes range from skin being dried out by sun, wind or water to poor diet or allergies. In more serious cases the best a skin lotion can do is help alleviate the symptoms. There are an endless number of skin creams and lotions available to you depending on what the problem is that you are trying to solve.

We all know the benefits of Aloe Vera and Vitamin E but how often do you hear of honey being used to rejuvenate or repair skin.

Honey by itself is an amazing gift of nature. It is wonderfully therapeutic when taken internally. A large portion of honey is made up of protein, with other nutrients, including carbohydrates, minerals, B complex vitamins (including bioflavonoids), and vitamins C, D and E. It has been used for centuries to promote internal and external healing. Used as a food it can give you energy.

Externally, it can be particularly useful. For starters it is a natural antiseptic. It also has anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties. Another characteristic of honey is that it will attract and (retain) moisture. It also acts as an anti-oxidant.

Now odds are that most people are not going to walk around with raw honey coated on their face or hands. - But would be happy with a non-greasy lotion or skin cream.

For dry skin or sunburn a lotion with honey would act as a natural "moisturizer". For mild blemishes such as acne or small sores the anti-bacterial characteristics would again promote healing. With something like cracked skin in the hands or feet – these areas can have very minor bacterial infections keeping them from healing – a honey lotion can help kill off infection and again promote healing.

As a little aside – it wouldn't be harmful at all to put raw honey on an open wound – probably better that hydrogen peroxide. Honey has hydrogen peroxide in it along with the other goodies. It will not only kill germs but promote healing.

So, including honey in a skin lotion will help moisturize, inhibit bacterial growth, help fight viral infection and can be helpful as an anti-inflammatory. With its many nutrients the addition of honey will help clear up minor blemishes such as acne or cracked dry skin like some people get on the heels of their feet or their hands and fingers.

Don't get me wrong - I'm as cranked for a boat ride on Flathead Lake of Montana as the next guy. There's just nothing quite as relaxing, mellow and laid back as piling onto a party barge pontoon boat and setting out to cruise the lake, especially if there are enough brews and some good eats to fill out the boat trip agenda.

It just didn't occur to me as we set sail that hot summer afternoon in August, departing the Dayton, Montana bay that we were in for an extended journey in search of the moon - of all things! Oh sure, Captain Ron at the helm, had talked about the moon rising over the lake, how awesome the scene would be, especially since it would make it's grand appearance rising over the Mission Mountains to the east of the lake. We thought he was kidding since the moon wasn't even scheduled until 11:30 or so that night.

The party boat rides are always a kick, sitting back in boat seats, beer and a piece of chicken in hand, cruising the nearby bays. As a family gathering on the water, the talk is light, and the sunshine generally splendid, as we enjoy the amazing vistas surrounding us. Ah, the amazing vistas - spectacular views across one of the largest inland lakes of the northwest, stretching to the rugged Mission Mountain Range to the southeast and a wonderful view of the Swan Range to the northeast.

The tour starts with a wildlife watch spin around Wild Horse Island - yes, with actual wild horses, deer with massive racks, and even mountain sheep high on the craggy cliffs of the island. As the afternoon faded, the cruise puttered back up into Big Thumb Bay. We savored more big sky views of the surrounding hill country on the west side of the lake. Then the cruise slowly puttered back out the Polson, Montana side of the Big Thumb.

The sun slowly set and darkness crept crossed lake, a spectacular sunset washing the lake and the Missions in amazing shades of pinks, reds and dark blues. As darkness deepened, the banter

muted, and the urge to settle in and take a nap lulled the crew into quietness. Passing Melita Island we headed out into the vastness of the larger body of the lake, circling back to the east side of Wild Horse Island again.

Out near Wild Horse we cruised, slowed, and stopped. Captain Ron speculated about the location of the moonrise. The outline of the Mission Range was faintly visible to the east, highlighted by a wondrous Montana starry sky, but no hint of a moon anywhere in the neighborhood. It just hadn't occurred to us that Captain Ron seriously intended to be there when it rose.

Huddling in chilly pitch dark, we joked and laughed, told stories, marveled at the amazing ceiling of stars overhead, and speculated regarding the moons rising point over the Mission Range. I read that the moonrise would be around midnight, and we arrived at our vigil around 9:30. So time passed slowly, the air provided a chillier note, the interest in beverages waned, and this 50 something crowd did begin to question the sanity of the entire quest.

Captain Ron persisted for the longest time. The rest of the family crew laughed and joked, saying, "wait, is it getting lighter over the Missions over there?" Finally, even the Captain concluded that moonrise might run late, given it had to rise over the Mission Mountains. It was also getting cooler, he had risen at 5:00 that morning, and the crew, well, the crew had started to grumble a bit. There was no clear indication that the moon was anywhere near rising either.

So, around 11:00 the boat motor was kicked on, and the cruise boat began a slow putter back around Wild Horse Island, heading back to the home port. At that pace, it was a long, long journey the many miles back across the lake. Banter picked up as the family crew knew the journey was drawing to a conclusion...., slowly. And even the Captain with moon performance pressure relieved, took on a lighter perspective - proposing an alternate moon on the water.

Then - less than 20 minutes into the return journey, to the surprise of the moon watch crew - there was the moon - over the Missions! The boat had passed into a shadow side of Wild Horse Island and the view of the Missions was obstructed for a bit. Pulling out of that shadow then, the wonder of a Montana moonrise caught us all by surprise. Truly a moment to treasure as the moonlight sparkled across Flathead Lake. It illuminated the jagged Mission Range and left us all in awestruck silence as the Captain cut the motor and we all sat back to drink in the wonder. In moments like that, all the pieces of the wondrous Cosmic Puzzle do fall into place and some perfect order takes on meaning.

There is no question that the marvel that is Flathead Lake of Montana has a thousand unique and unforgettable vistas, scenes, recreational pleasures for all. The rest of the journey back to the ome port in Dayton was a light and lively jaunt, with the moon shining bright over our shoulder. There is hardly a time that we've explored the wonders of the lake that we don't come home with memories to treasure.

When your own adventure includes a jaunt to or through Montana, plan at least a brief stay in around Flathead Lake. Great places for your base-camp accommodations can be found at either end of the lake - in Kalispell, in Polson or a number of spots in between. Before you go, check for lodging arrangements through and be sure to get your reservations plenty in advance as the area does fill up during the summer time.

Cleopatra’s Beauty Secrets

Posted by Wealth Group | 10:25 PM | 0 comments »

The Legendary Queen of Egypt was known for her exquisite complexion. One of her secret beauty treatments, the milk and honey bath are still being used today.

One of the main ingredients, Milk, contains lactic acid, which helps to exfoliate your skin. The lactic acid in milk is an alpha hydroxy acid, which helps to cleanse the deepest layers of the skin.

Honey has an abundance of health properties. First of all, it is composed of sugars like glucose and fructose so it is also a gentle alpha hydroxy acid. It's made up of both minerals and vitamins to help nourish and heal the skin. Since it also contains phytochemicals that kill viruses, bacteria, and fungus, it's has a natural anti-inflammatory effect which heals wounds quickly. This makes honey a good substitute for wound dressings.

Here are a couple of ways to enjoy these 2 main ingredients found in her ancient beauty secrets.

Cleopatra Honey & Milk Bath

Ingredients

1/2 Cup Powdered Milk 1/2 Cup Raw Honey 2 teaspoon Jojoba Oil (optional)

Mix ingredients in a large bowl and pour your warm bath. Soak for up to 20 minutes to infuse these beneficial ingredients in your skin. This recipe makes enough for one bath.

Milk & Honey Rinse for Wrinkled Skin

Ingredients

1 oz raw honey 1 Cup skim milk 2 teaspoons aloe vera gel

Combine Ingredients in a jar and shake well. Apply to your face morning and evening with a cotton ball. Store mixture in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

Hundred's of years ago, Cleopatra discovered that milk and honey can help keep the skin youthful, soft and beautiful. Incorporating these 2 beauty recipes in your daily regime will help you to also experience healthy, vibrant, and ageless skin. Milk and Honey is readily available at your local grocer and is an inexpensive way to improve your skin.

Nothing Beats a Luxury Honeymoon Cruise

Posted by Wealth Group | 7:25 PM | 0 comments »

Cruises are an ideal honeymoon getaway that if properly researched can fit into every budget. There are many different types of cruises you can take and here we will discuss some of them.

Spend your honeymoon with a romantic trip on a luxury liner. Being on the high end of the cruise scale, it is unbeatable. The moment you step aboard, the luxury is evident. You are given a grand welcome with a glass of champagne, and a crew member will show you to your suite. The suites are luxurious, with large bedrooms, beautiful bathrooms and occasionally a balcony to view all the wonders of the sea.

Many luxury liners give you many options when it comes to choosing food. They will often have several restaurants, bars, and lounges. Some will feature a theatre for viewing various shows every night. Along with a casino for you and your new spouse to enjoy the night away, or a night club to dance and celebrate your new union.

Many honeymoon cruises will have a fitness center, swimming pool, and hot tub for all of your needs. What good is a honeymoon cruise without being able to relax? That is exactly why some liners offer a spa to engage in health and beauty therapy.

Deciding where you want to go on your cruise will be a fun adventure. You can take a cruise anywhere that is accessible by sea. You will enjoy various stops and adventures that only a cruise can show you. Many cruise companies offer a wide variety of honeymoon packages. Many people choose to take winter cruises to the warmer climates such as the Caribbean or anywhere in the South Pacific.

Costly as a honeymoon cruise may seem to you at the time, keep in mind that the cost includes many benefits that a typical honeymoon destination might not. Things such as, all meals, any onboard facilities like a theatre or nightclub, wine is occasionally included, and transportation to and from various ports.

Agent Tricks of the Travel Trade

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:25 PM | 0 comments »

I'll be forthright: I'm not a homemaker. I feel more at ease constantly on the move, city after city, mountaintop to seaside surf, living out of my suitcase and fumbling through a foreign language phrase book, than I feel even comfy and cozy, napping on my couch on a Sunday afternoon. Perhaps I'm a little crazy, but I find it thrilling sprinting to make a connecting flight (even if it's the red eye); I believe it convenient when the airline informs me my luggage is a flight behind, leaving unencumbered to begin sightseeing immediately; and I think myself resourceful when I arrive at a booked hotel only to realize I forgot to make reservations but still haggle a room. Of course, while I don't mind any of the perceived headaches of traveling, I do mind the high costs often associated with it. Traveling, for me, is primarily about escaping—whether it be work, commuting, obligations, sometimes even family and friends—but how is it an escape if I'm worried about how much I'm spending the entire trip?

I mention cost as something that would potentially worry me were it not for the fact that, in reality, it doesn't worry me at all. At least not since I wised up, did the requisite research and taught myself the agent tricks of the travel trade. Travel agents' tricks that is, because in addition to being a constant traveler and writer, I am also a licensed travel agent. Not in the sense that I work for others, booking their hotels, finding their flights, or landing them a deal on an Alaskan cruise. Truth is, I only use my license for personal escapes (well, okay, occasionally for family and friends too, but only when their remarks regarding my debonair good lucks are particularly flattering).

If you've never heard of this travel industry loophole before, this may sound somewhat (or completely) preposterous. In fact, however, it is quite common among everyday people, both those who travel often or but once a year, both those whose work relates to travel to those whose work relates only to that which remains stationary. What I mean, plain and simple, is anyone—you, me, your second cousin Otto, or my next-door neighbor Irene—can get their travel agent's license lickety-split, and immediately begin reaping the benefits.

First things first: when making travel arrangements for themselves, every agent knows not to book a single step of their journey through one of their own, i.e. other travel agents. Instead, they use travel consolidators.

Think about the difference those terms: agent and consolidator.

An agent, in any industry where they're principal players, obviously gets something in return for the services they provide. In sports, agents represent athletes, working off the field to win their clients lucrative contracts and commercial cameos so the athlete can in turn, without financial distractions, concentrate and win on the field. For these services, agents win themselves a percentage of every deal they broker. The same is true in showbiz, modeling, or corporations where headhunters wheel and deal multi-million dollar salaries and stock incentive plans for their CEO clients. Likewise, then, in the travel industry, agents receive discounts, courtesies and other special benefits, not from the customer for whom they book a hotel or flight, but from the vendor providing that service (i.e. the hotel chain or airline) who profits from the customer. As agents for airlines, etc., they drive customers toward vendors whom offer them the most in return.

A consolidator, on the other hand, does virtually the opposite. Rather than inflate the costs of travel by collecting fees, they combine, for the sake of efficiency, the expensive and unstable parts of travel into a cheaper, more solid whole. They work to maximize vendor's numbers, ratios and the cost per head. Think about it in terms of magazine publishing: the real cost in printing an issue is not the number of copies made, but merely arranging and setting the plates that will allow the print run in the first place. Once that is set to go, the only added costs are that of extra paper and ink. The travel industry is the same, the more spaces that fill, the cheaper tickets or rooms become per person. As in any industry, consumers (i.e. travelers in this case) benefit from the sheer volume of numbers (i.e. all travelers, yourself included).

You, as a licensed travel agent would obtain special contact with these consolidators and the deals vendors must offer to maximize their costs per person. But while it's all well and good to make arrangements through a consolidator as opposed to an agent, just because you acquire a license (available online in under an hour) doesn't mean the consolidator will believe you're as much a travel professional as they are. To avoid common mistakes that expose amateurs from pros, you must learn the proper lingo and travel codes. For that there are volumes of eBooks (with corresponding printed versions) that provide the requisite knowledge, which you can quickly study before contacting a consolidator and easily flip through if put on the spot. Get these references. Some of them are thick, but in reality you'll spend less than a hundred dollars on everything you need to in turn potentially save thousands on the first trip you plan with your travel agent's license in hand.

Furthermore, instead of turning to the discount fare finders like Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity or Priceline that lay-travelers search, as a travel agent, you additionally gain access to the lesser known, but more lucrative sites travel consolidators utilize.

Together, the benefits will materialize almost immediately. Buy plane tickets the day before the flight's scheduled to depart, but only pay what you would have had you purchased tickets two months in advance. Get a spacious cruise ship cabin beside the captain's quarters for the price of an ocean-level closet. Find yourself lodging in the seaside, honeymoon suite for the price you might have paid for the basement hide-a-bed beside the ice machine.

Finally, the travel industry is a weird and wonderful creature, in this case, thankfully profit driven as much as other industries we often loathe. To those who present themselves as viable agents, promoting and thus earning money for the industry as a whole, it means endless perks. I get more special offers from airlines, cruise lines, and packaged tour companies than I know what to do with. For me, casinos, theme parks, and luxury resorts are not necessarily what I strive for, but if that is your cup of tea and your hocus pocus agenting appears legitimate, you'll suddenly find yourself choosing between the best of many worlds: free weekends in the Napa Valley, first class seats to Tokyo, an all expense paid safari, a cruise down the Nile...

So what are you waiting for, get started! Find a comprehensive eBook or alternate guide that takes you through the process of becoming a travel agent, step-by-step. Don't sit on this opportunity, but rather start traveling cheaply, today…

As for me, I've got a flight to catch…

Now, where did I put my passport?

As darkness sets on the island of Zanzibar, excited shouts, music and the ululating of women fills the air. Dressed in their most colourful and stylish outfits, donned with heavy gold bracelets and chains, their hands and feet decorated with flower patterns made from traditional henna, the women anxiously await the arrival of the star of the evening: the bride. As the live band in the expansive hall draws the crowd to a climax, the bride makes her grand entry.

She enters amidst shouts of 'Bibi Harussi, the bride, has come!' as the women let out their high-pitched sounds of joy. Her mother, friends, sisters and aunties follow in her footsteps, dancing and singing, literally escorting her in. Her sight catches the breath of many: it is the most important appearance this young woman will ever make in her life. She has now officially entered womanhood; she is a married woman, a changed person, and the results of days, sometimes weeks, of beauty treatment, culminate in her moment of entry. She majestically struts in, all bright and shiny, showing off her glittering gown, her astonishing hairdo and make-up and the intricate henna patterns on her arms and legs.

The grand entry of the bride represents the climax of a Swahili traditional wedding. Such weddings are held among the entire Swahili population of Eastern Africa, including the islands of Zanzibar and Pemba, and the Tanzanian and Kenyan coasts. Swahili weddings incorporate a deeply rooted culture and religion, which can be traced back to the Arabic roots of the Swahili population.

Although a Swahili wedding can differ according to local tradition and the depth of a families' wallet, the basics remain the same. If a young man and woman want to get married, first, a dowry payment has to be made. This involves elaborate negotiations between both families. The dowry, usually a sum of money or gold, or furniture for the newlyweds' house, is given to the girl. Secondly, the girl has to consent to the marriage. On the wedding day, before the actual wedding vows are taken, she is asked three times if she has consented to this marriage. If she says no at any one time, the wedding is immediately called off. If she agrees, the vows are then taken with witnesses present, one of which has to be her father or a representative of her father.

For those who are not able to afford elaborate wedding celebrations, a simple ceremony incorporating these things makes for a valid marriage. Swahili culture however deems marriage one of the most important events in a person's life, and it is therefore expected that a wedding be celebrated in style.

When wedding negotiations are over, a wedding date is set and preparations can start. Two weeks before the wedding day, the bride receives a 'Sanduku', the Swahili word for suitcase. It is literally a sizeable suitcase filled with every imaginary item the girl could need for her personal use in her first year of marriage. It includes clothes, shoes, underwear, make-up, toiletries, materials for making dresses, bed sheets, perfume, and even toothbrushes and toothpaste.

A week before the wedding, the girl is taken to a secluded place where she can prepare herself, receive all kinds of beauty treatments and can ask her female relatives, especially her godmother, all the questions she has about the life she is about to enter. For a young Swahili woman, her wedding day symbolises the transition to womanhood. In her culture, this comes with responsibilities, such as a husband and later on a family, but also with rights; she has come of age. She can now wear make-up, gold, beautiful dresses, do her hair, attend weddings -something unmarried girls are not allowed to do- and generally be a woman in her own right.

One of the most noticeable differences between a traditional Swahili wedding and its Western style equivalent, is that the bride and groom are not together when the wedding vows are taken, and they are even separated during much of the festivities. This is based on the religion of the Swahili people, Islam, which does not allow men and women to celebrate such an occasion together. Reason being that the women would not be able to celebrate freely; that is removing their headscarves, dance their sensuous traditional dances and be generally free when men are watching.

During the official ceremony, or Nikkah, the groom is normally in a mosque; his wife to be is in the same area -but not in the same room- if space allows, for instance if the mosque compound harbours another building or secluded area where the bride can sit. It does happen that the bride is not anywhere near the groom when they say their vows. She could be at her parent's home, or any other place that is deemed fit.

When the wedding vows are taken, it's time for the bride to come out in her moment of glory. She makes her entry in front of the female wedding guests, and takes her place on a stage in front of the crowd so that she can be admired and people can take pictures with her. A while later, the groom joins her and after elaborate congratulations and picture opportunities, they leave together as man and wife, leaving their guests to celebrate and eat sumptuous amounts of food.

When attending a Swahili wedding, it's quite obvious that the women are in charge here. The air in the hall where the festivities are taking place is heavy with the perfume of all the women present, their outfits a feast of colour, their gold dangling in abundance. A wedding celebration is a Swahili woman's party time; it is her chance to get dressed up, show her latest fashion outfits, wear her gold and dance until morning; a chance to get away, if only for a while, from the chores of daily life.

There are usually several other functions following the official ceremony and the 'showing of the bride'. A smaller party with close relatives can follow, or a religious celebration where prayers are recited to bless the couple. Sometimes a mock 'fight' is staged; if the party is at the girls' parents house, the husband has to 'break down' the door to get his wife; and usually, he has to 'bribe' the male relatives of the bride to let him in!

With the official wedding day over, the celebrations can go on for several more days. The husband then takes his new wife to all his relatives to introduce her - in Swahili tradition; a bride becomes part of the husbands' family after marriage. She remains a bride until she gives birth to her first child. Her 'bridal' days are then officially over. But by then, she will have probably gone for countless other weddings to enjoy the party!

Your wedding is one of the most beautiful and important days in your life. Something you definitely want to capture with great photographs - both for yourself and for future generations. However, a worst case scenario, could have you paying lot's of money for a bunch of pictures you really are not satisfied with. This article will walk you through some of the most important aspects of wedding photography.

Choosing a photographer

Your first task is naturally to select a wedding photographer. Most expensive doesn't always translate into "best", so it can pay off doubly to check out several companies and photographers. Also, you should be aware of that some photographers only offer the traditional wedding photography style, or strictly a photojournalistic style. It is best to find a versatile photographer that can do both.

When visiting the photo company you should inquire who will actually be taking the pictures. Salespersons often pose as actual photographers and try to woo customers. If at all possible you should speak directly with the photographer and make sure companies deal openly. You should also ask them to show several complete weddings from each of the photographers they offer you, so you can choose. Make sure the one chosen is the one that will cover your wedding. Otherwise, it is better to find a photographer that personally shoots weddings. A two-person team is an even better package because two points of view of the wedding can be taken.

In any case, the photographer should be able to show more than one complete set of wedding photos. Couples should not accept someone who shows only selected prints of their best photographs from different weddings. A photographer who can exhibit three or four complete sets of good quality pictures, all from different weddings, will probably be a very good choice for your special occasion.

Do not be afraid to come across as "too picky". Because asking intelligent questions will encourage photographers to deal openly with customers. Remember, it's your special day, and you should make sure that the wedding photography is something that will help you and your loved ones relive those wonderful memories.

The big day - one big photo-op

Once a great photographer has been appointed to the task, most of your job is already done. However, there are a few things to keep in mind in order to make your wedding as good a photo opportunity as possible.

The first thing to do is to give the most opportunities for the photographer when scheduling activities during the wedding day. When planning the time of the wedding ceremony and of the reception, couples should incorporate the time that the photographer requires to capture all of the couple's special moments. There should be a gap between the end of the ceremony and beginning of the reception, to allow for more photographs for the bride, groom and wedding entourage, especially if they are in two different locations. The photographers and subjects will have a more relaxed shoot and will enjoy all the parts of the wedding if the events are well spaced out.

Selecting a photographer that will provide unlimited coverage for the whole day is also a good way to ensure that none of the photography will be rushed.

The check list

As you see, the most important part with successful wedding photography lies in selecting the right photographer. So, to conclude this article, here is a short check list of things you should ask all potential photographers.

- What kinds of cameras does he use? Does he use medium format equipment and have a back up? Does have a "leaf" shutter or "focal plane"?

- What lenses does he use? Does he use only one, or will he change lenses? Make him show you photo effects that he is able to achieve with different lenses and choose the ones which you like to appear with your photographs.

- Will he provide photographs in both color and black and white, or would he charge extra for B/W? Dramatic effects can be made with black and white photographs, so ask if this is a premium.

- Are hand and digital coloring or digital color separation included in the package or would he charge extra for these? Better pictures are developed when the photograph colors are separated first, improved, and then printed.

- Is he willing to customize a package that is within your budget?

An air purifier can perform wonders for your home. Air purifiers do battle with anything airborne and unwanted, such as odors, bacteria and germs, and leave your home with clean, pure, and healthy air. Once you start living with an air purifier you'll wonder how you ever survived without it. More and more home owners are opting to purchase an air purifier as they become more and more aware and concerned about the quality of the air they breathe day in, day out.

How do the best air purifiers work?

Air purifiers work by replacing the air in your home with clean and filtered air. They remove particles in the air, such as dust, by drawing air through their filters. Unwanted particles get trapped in machine's filter, and what is circulated back into your home is pure, clean air.

How to find the best air purifier?

There are many air purifiers on the market and many different manufactures. Keeping track of new developments in air purification technology is difficult. Before you buy, always do a bit of research about the product and the manufacturer.

If you are buying in-store, prepare questions and make an appointment with the salesperson so that you can be completely informed about product features.

If you are buying online, then try to read reviews of each product before you buy. Online stores such as A do provide this review service. Some of the better manufacturers are Honeywell, GE, Whirlpool, Alpine, Living Air and Bionaire, amongst others. Visit the manufacturer's website and download product features and specifications, which you should study before making your final choice.

Brighten Up Dull & Tired Skin

Posted by Wealth Group | 1:25 AM | 0 comments »

As we grow older and are constantly exposed to the UV rays of the sun our skin starts to appear dry and dull. This is the result of the outside layer of the skin getting excessive build up and is not exfoliated on a regular basis. Build-up is especially noticed after we have spent the summer in the sun. It's more apparent to women since we realize that our make-up doesn't look as fresh and our foundation begins to fade within a couple of hours. Our make-up and foundation is actually being absorbed into the accumulated dead skin cells, which gives a very tired and unhealthy look to the skin.

To keep your skin vibrant and healthy on a regular basis, you must have a regimen that incorporates exfoliation and nourishing the skin. Your regular skin care program does not have to be a department store or drug store solution. You can prepare an all nature skin care program right from your kitchen table and manage to get the same results if not better results that your store bought product promises.

Exfoliation:

You should exfoliate at least 2-3 times per week (daily is even better) to keep the skin's healthy glow. One solution for exfoliating the skin in an in expensive way is to use sugar. Yes, Sugar! Glycolic acid which is found in most AHA (alpha hydroxyl acid) products is from sugar cane. You can benefit from glycolic acid by using sugar for exfoliation.

Simply mix ½ to 1 teaspoon of sugar in with a small amount of your favorite skin cleanser. Wet your face and massage the cleanser/sugar mixture over your face for 1-2 minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water to remove this mixture and you will instantly feel a difference in your skin.

Nourish:

Give your skin a refreshing drink with a simple nourishing facial mask. The ingredients are powerful and can be found in your kitchen. Combine one or more main ingredient with a liquid ingredient for to make a wonderful facial mask. Base your ingredient choices on the health properties of each item.

Base Ingredient:

Honey – It is a humectant (which draws in moisture) and it has antibacterial qualities that also stimulates and smoothes the skin.

Mango - Provides natural fruit enzymes which also exfoliates the skin and the oil in mangos help moisturize.

Avocado - A naturally rich moisturizer has essential fats and oils.

Oatmeal – Moisturizing and slightly exfoliating

Liquid Ingredient:

Milk – Enzymes and Lactose acid to exfoliate and milk fat to condition the skin.

Aloe Vera Gel – Healing and softening.

Egg White – tightening and conditioning.

You will want to follow your treatments with your favorite hypoallergenic moisturizer. For best results, these treatments can be done 2-3 times a week to help keep your skin youthful and vibrant.

The Cassini-Huygens exploration of Saturn, a seven-year joint venture of NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Italian Space Agency, is realizing more surprising discoveries. In addition to discovering that Cassini is geologically active in contrast to its nearby neighbor Mimas, Cassini has now proven that it is Enceladus indeed that is responsible for the E ring of Saturn. The E ring of Saturn is Saturn's broadest, faintest ring.

Enceladus is a small moon 314 miles across that so bright it reflects nearly one hundred percent of its heat. For this reason, it is a very cold moon, with a temperature of near minus 330 degrees Fahrenheit. Its orbit is influenced under the large gravitational pull of Saturn as well as the gravitational influence of large nearby moons Tethys and Dione. Previous voyages by Voyager as well as Cassini have shown it to be a moon having sharp geological contrasts over its surface for a moon of such small size.

It has long been speculated that Enceladus has somehow been responsible for the E ring of Saturn. An ice particle stream propelled by water vapor was first detected through the use of the High Rate Detector (HRD) of the Cosmic Dust Analyzer (CDA) on Cassini's approach of 286 miles in July. However it was not confirmed until November 26, 2005 when Cassini made the closest approach of any of Saturn's moons yet. This orbit of 109 miles used infrared detection to confirm the ejection of ice particles in a plume from the south pole.

This plume of ice particles confirms a theory proposed that Enceladus is a source of the fine ice particles responsible for making up one of Saturn's rings, the E ring. The E ring is composed of ice particles near the 3 micron range. The average size of particles emitted by Enceladus is in the 10 micron range. However, this theory is still consistent because the largest particles are believed to be too large to escape the moon's gravity. The medium-sized particles probably leave the atmosphere but are pulled back before fully escaping. Only the finest, tiniest particles of the plume make it out to form the E ring.

Enceladus is very similar to a comet in the way it ejects ice particles. The difference lies in the fact that in a comet the ice is warmed by sunlight. The source of Enceladus's heat is largely unknown. Some sort of internal mechanism, possibly a tidal force or a radioactive mechanism, is creating an enormous amount of heat for such a small moon. This is the wonderful unsolved mystery behind Enceladus, and the ultimate reason for the existence of Saturn's E ring.

The Cassini-Huygens exploration of Saturn, a seven-year joint venture of NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Italian Space Agency, is getting a closer look at its current subject of attention, the small moon of Enceladus. Enceladus is one of the most innermost moons of Saturn which scientists had assumed to be largely dead. With a very bright surface it reflects nearly 100 per cent of its heat and thereby has a very cold temperature, minus 330 degrees Fahrenheit.

A surprising discovery was that Enceladus, unlike nearby similar moon Mimas, is geologically active due to the emission of ice particles propelled by water vapor into the atmosphere from its south pole. Enceladus is a small moon of approximately 300 miles radius and the existence of any geological activity for a moon that size has scientists pleasantly baffled. Discovery of geological activity on any moon has been a rare phenomenon so far. The wonderful unexplained mystery behind Enceladus is the cause of the tremendous heat source that is warming the ice. Scientists can only guess that it is due to tidal activity or radioactive mechanisms for now.

At one time it was believed that the heat was being emitted from the mid-latitude tectonic gashes that circumscribe the south polar region. This was what Cassini's approach in July seemed to imply. However in contrast to that orbit of 286 miles, Cassini's more recent closer approach of 109 miles confirmed that the heat was actually being emitted from what are known as the tiger stripes of Cassini. The tiger stripes of Cassini are 80 mile long fissures running parallel to each other spaced about 25 miles apart. Cassini is only 314 miles across. The hottest spots were found in the south polar region of the tiger stripes.

Cassini determined there were two types of ice on Enceladus. An older amorphous variety was due to the constant characteristic of the surface of the planet. However the ice particles vented through the tiger stripe fissure were fine crystalline particles. This ice averaged ten microns in size. It is these tiny ice particles escaping the moon's atmosphere that are making up the composition of Saturn's broadest ring, the E ring.

In March of 2008, Cassini is scheduled to visit Enceladus again. Perhaps then more light will be shed on the mystery behind Enceladus.

Honey – Important Health Facts!

Posted by Wealth Group | 10:25 AM | 0 comments »

Honey is the most known apicultural product, it is a substance that the bees produce through a complicated process of elaboration, where they absorb the nectar and deposit it in their stomach, then go back to the beehive to deliver it, throwing up repeated times; this way ferments, acid and albumen are added to the nectar. It contains most of the essential mineral elements that our system needs. There have already been found, in the honey, more than 180 different nutritional substances.

The beekeeping is a very old activity. Evidences from Egypt, Mesopotamia and Greece describe ancient beekeeping and the honey is also mentioned in the Bible. It was considered sacred, and was also used to pay taxes and debts. Besides all this, it was used to draw and paint as well. Honey contains proteins, essential minerals and vitamins. It is a food of elevated energy and is also known for its medicinal and therapeutic assets. Honey is a food of easy digestion and enthusiastically assimilated by humans, constituting a healthy source of energy.

Honey consumed as food is important for the balance of the biological process of the organism. It contains glucose and fructose, which goes directly into the blood, becoming an energetic product. Honey can be used as food, as a natural sweetener and as medicine. After some time of use, it assists in the control of rheumatism and arthritis, prevents all types of respiratory illnesses and helps in the digestion. Honey is also used on the skin and is an ingredient for some shampoos. It is used extensively in the cosmetic industry as well (creams, cleanness facemasks, tonics, etc.) because of its astringent and softening qualities.

Eating honey will improve your quality of life, since it stimulates and increases physical resistance; it is slightly sedative, discouraging insomnias; it helps in the healing, it is anti-septic, digestive and laxative, helping in the treatment of gastritis; it is an expectorant fighting the cough, also of smokers. Used externally, it speeds up the healing of wounds and minor burnings, besides hydrating the skin.

With honey – and nothing else –, Nigerian doctors were able to cure serious wounds, burnings and ulcers of skin in 59 patients, which were submitted previously to conventional treatments with antibiotics without any satisfying results. First, the doctors gathered samples of the wounds to be studied in laboratory. The results had shown that the infections were caused by common bacteria – therefore more resistant – as the Pseudomonad, found frequently in infections. After that, the honey was applied on the infected skin. One week later, no micro organism appeared in the laboratory examinations. For the reason that it is slightly acid, extremely viscous and absorbs water, the honey cleaned the wounds, diminished their size and protected them from new infections. According to the Nigerian doctors, honey also has the property of being a bactericidal agent.

It has been indicated to prevent, control or cure the following illnesses:

• Respiratory diseases

• Cramps

• Intestinal disturbances

• Digestive disturbances

• Throat irritation

• Urinary irritation

• Irritation of the eyes

• Dental caries

• Illnesses of the liver

• Rheumatic pains

• Physical fatigue

• Insomnia

• Skin burn

• Stomach ulcer, etc.

The flavour, aroma and colour of the honey differ according to its botanical origin, in accordance with the flowers from where the bee has removed the nectar to manufacture it. The climate, humidity and even the altitude will interfere in these characteristics of the honey. Usually, the clear honey presents weak flavour and aroma. The honey of darker coloration is richer in proteins and minerals.

Here goes an advice: honey fattens less than sugar. 1 tea-spoon or 5g of honey = 16,4kcal. It is also the best option for athletes. Biologists concluded that honey is the best source of carbohydrates and energy for athletes and mature people.

If you are not familiar with what a honeymoon registry is, you should be!

Today, many couples are already living together prior to getting married. For some, it may be a second marriage. As a result, the need for the usual household items as wedding gifts often does not exist.

The natural solution to the wedding "gift giving" dilemma is the popular and growing trend toward honeymoon registries.

It's perfect! You get a great honeymoon and your guests can feel good about giving you a gift that they know you really wanted. Something personal and meaningful.

A honeymoon registry is very similar to the usual gift registry. The difference being that instead of getting pieces of crystal or china as gifts, you will get "pieces" of your honeymoon. What a wonderful idea!

When you join a honeymoon registry, your chosen destination package is broken down into affordable "pieces" and listed just like a normal gift registry. The airfare may be broken into several smaller pieces. Each meal or activity you choose will be listed. Your guests can then search your registry and purchase a desired piece of your honeymoon for you.

There are many honeymoon registries to choose from but all are not created equal.

A good registry will...

... be simple to use. Remember, not all of your guests are computer savvy.

... provide both email and postcard notification of your registry to your guests. Not everyone has a computer and postcards are just more personal.

... provide your guests with a visual and physical accounting of their purchase. A gift card to present to the bride and groom as well as a receipt for their own purposes is required.

... have exceptional, personal, customer service complete with a 1-800 number so that guests may contact them with any questions they may have.

... have a proven track record and specialize in honeymoon registry service and travel.

... be bonded to ensure protection of the money in your registry account.

... pay out your collected honeymoon funds in a timely manner.

Call them. Talk with them. Make sure you are completely comfortable with your choice before committing.

As a polite gesture on your part, take pictures of your "gifts" while on your honeymoon. The guests who contributed to your happiness will appreciate a picture in your thank you card!

Backyard Honeymoons

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:25 AM | 0 comments »

A small honeymoon budget does not mean you have to sacrifice romance. Nowhere is it written that you must travel to an exotic island and stay in a luxury resort. Maybe your idea of romance is snuggling in the same bedroll while camping out under the stars together.

Who knows? Only the two of you!

For super cheap honeymoons try looking in your own backyard. I don't mean "literally" your backyard, but I would be willing to bet that not far from you, there is a perfect little honeymoon getaway.

* If you are from a small town, go to the city. Enjoy the hospitality of an upscale hotel for a couple of nights. Be pampered!

* If you are from the city, get away from it all to a secluded little bed and breakfast inn on a lake somewhere.

Having traveled Canada and the United States all my life, I can tell you that the entire coastline of our North American continent is wondrous. Whether you are in Alaska, Maine, British Columbia, California or Florida, the beaches are breathtaking. Each has it's own special qualities that make it unique and beautiful.

You may be the type that enjoy polar bears, harp seals and whale watching in Alaska. Perhaps you are the outdoors type. Check out the lazy sea lions and try salmon fishing in British Columbia. While you are there, turn around and look at the mountains! They are amazing! Here in Georgia, you can watch and actually feed the dolphins that frolic in the ocean with you as you swim. If you are lucky, they will let you touch them.

A "beach" doesn't necessarily have to be on the ocean. There are some fabulous lakes that offer spectacular views - The Great Lakes for example.

If you can't get near water, choose a hotel with a great pool.

The point is, depending on your personal style, there is a "beach" for everyone!

Too often we are so busy looking for something better that we miss the obvious beauty right under our noses.

Choose that spot within driving distance from you and go for it! Remember, cheap honeymoons are where you find them. They don't have to cost thousands of dollars to be intimate and romantic.

By the way, while you are honeymooning - tell the world! You will be surprised at how many little perks and extras come your way once people know you are newlyweds! Use it!

Therapeutic uses of Honey in Ayurveda

Posted by Wealth Group | 1:25 AM | 0 comments »

The FAO Codex Alimentarius Commission defines honey as 'the natural sweet substance produced by honeybees from the nectar of flowers or from secretions coming from living organisms feeding on plants, that bees gather, transform and combine with specific ingredients, store and leave to ripen in the combs of the hive.'

In Ayurveda honey is called as "Madhu". Its qualities are explained as follows.

"Vaatalam guru sheetam cha raktapittakaphapaham |

Sandhatru cchedanam ruksham kashayam madhuram madhu ||"

"It has sweetness (madhura rasa) with added astringent as end taste (Kashaya anu rasa). It is heavy (guru guna), dry (ruksha) and cold (sheeta). Its effect on doshas is as follows It aggravates vata, scrapes kapha and normalizes pitta and rakta. It promotes healing process."

The contents of Honey are

1. Sugars like fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, lactose and other disaccharides and trisaccharides.

2. Proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids,

3. Volatile aromatic substances.

4. Ashes and water etc.

Various ingredients of honey have helped it to become not only a sweet liquid but also a natural product with high nutritional and medicinal value.

The medicinal quality, taste, texture, color, aroma of honey differs according to the geographical area and the species of plants from which it has been collected.

Types of Honey:

Eight types of honey are described in ayurveda depending on the type of bee which collects it. They are Pouttika ,Bhramara .Kshoudra, Makshika , Chatra , Arghya ,Oudalaka ,Dala .

Pouttika - This honey is collected by very large bees from the nectar of poisonous flowers. It increases vata, causes gout and burning sensation in chest. It is also sedative and reduces fat.

Bhramara - This honey is collected by large bees and Sticky in nature.

Kshoudra - (Honey collected by medium sized honey bees ) light and cold in nature. Dissolves Kapha.

Makshika - (Honey collected by small honey bees) very light and dry natured. Usefull in VataKapha diseases and kapha diseases

Chatra - Heavy and cold in nature usefull in gout, Leucoderma (Shwitra),

Arghya - Good for eyes but causes arthritis .

Oudalaka - Useful in skin diseases, and helps in modulation of voice.

Dala - Dry and reduces vomiting.

Amongst all the above "Makshika" is considered as the best type with immense medicinal properties.

Therapeutic uses of Honey:

1. As it contains sugars which are quickly absorbed by our digestive system and converted into energy, this can be used as instant energizer.

2. As it is hygroscopic it speeds up healing, growth of healing tissue and dries it up.

3. Honey acts as a sedative and is very usefull in bed wetting disorders.

4. Honey is very good antioxident which restores the damaged skin and gives soft, young looks.

5. Honey has antibacterial properties due to its acidic nature and enzymically produced hydrogen peroxide.

6. Constant use of honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacteria and viral diseases.

In Ashtanga Hridaya the great classic of ayurveda, the therapeutic uses of honey are explained as follows.

"Chakshushayam Chedi tritshleshmavishahidmaasrapittanut |

Mehakushtakrimicchardishwaasakaasaatisaarajit ||

Vranashodhana sandhaanaropanam vaatalam madhu ||"

• Initiates growth of healthy granulation tissue.

• Honey which is newly collected from bee hive increases body weight and is a mild laxative.

• Honey which is stored and is old helps in metabolism of fat and scrapes Kapha.

Ayurveda explains another special quality of honey. Honey is called as "Yogavahi" . The substance which has a quality of penetrating the deepest tissue is called as Yogavahi. When honey is used with other herbal preparations it enhances the medicinal qualities of those preparations and also helps them to reach the deeper tissues.

Precautions to be taken before using honey:

• Honey should not be mixed with hot foods.

• Honey should not be heated.

• Honey should not be consumed when you are working in hot environment where you are exposed to more heat.

• Honey should never be mixed with rain water, hot and spicy foods, and Fermented beverages like whisky, rum, brandy etc, Ghee and mustard.

• Honey includes nectar of various flowers of which some may be poisonous. Poison has hot or Ushna qualities. When honey is mixed with hot and spicy foods the poisonous properties get enhanced and cause imbalance of doshas.

Few Home remedies with Honey

• Mix 2 tea spoon of honey with carrot juice and consume regularly. This helps to improve eyesight and is very helpful for those who sit before computer for long hours.

• In cold, cough and congested chest mix 2 tea spoons of honey with equal quantity of ginger juice and should be consumed frequently.

• A mixture of black pepper powder, honey and ginger juice in equal quantities, when consumed thrice daily help to relieve the symptoms of asthma.

• Regular use of one tea spoon of garlic juice mixed with two tea spoons of honey help to control blood pressure.

• One glass of warm water taken with two tea spoons of honey and 1 tea spoon of lemon juice in early morning reduces fat and purifies blood.

Wedding - Celebrating That Special Occasion

Posted by Wealth Group | 10:25 PM | 0 comments »

A wedding is perhaps the most wonderful and memorable event in a person's life. It is a time to exchange vows and promise each other that you will be there for each other in good and bad times until the end of time. And it is not easy to arrive at that decision of committing to that special someone in this way. The reality is that marriages take a lot of work and perseverance to make them last. So, a lot of thought is required before deciding to take the plunge. For most people, weddings are the stuff of fairytales and there is much hope that the marriage will be an everlasting and beautiful one.

People start preparing well in advance to make their wedding day as perfect as they would like it to be. You need to take care of every little detail, be it the music that will play at the wedding or the dress you will be wearing. A good way to ensure you don't overlook something is to make a checklist. The wedding showers are usually organized about 4 to 6 weeks before the nuptials wedding. The main aim of these showers is to help assemble a trousseau for the bride or help equip the couple's new home. The bride also gets a good occasion to get together with family and friends.

The main thing to ensure for both the groom and the bride is that they look good on their wedding day. Clothes should flatter them and fit well. Tuxedos are a good idea for grooms, because most men look good in those. The groom should also ensure to arrange for the other accessories that he will need e.g. shirt, tie and shoes. The bridal dress needs to be chosen or stitched carefully and should normally have a veil and headpiece that go with it. It is a good idea for brides to pamper themselves with beauty treatments before the wedding day and get their hands manicured. Most importantly, the bride should sleep well, so that she looks beautiful and fresh on her special day.

Remember to plan for the favors that you will be giving your guests on the wedding day to thank them for their presence and blessings. Gifts such as chocolates, boxes of candy, or real flowers are a good idea. If you don't want to buy gifts, even a piece of the wedding cake can serve as a favor. If you plan well, your wedding day will be a great start to your honeymoon and hopefully, a lifetime of romance.

Calcutta, India is a city known for having a serious poverty problem. While this is true, there is much more to the place.

Calcutta

Calcutta is a colonial city organized during the period of British rule, which means a great majority of it is only one to two hundred years old. Unfortunately, the upkeep in the city has been seriously lacking. Frankly, the place appears to be falling down in most places.

Rejecting the British moniker, the Bengali locals have moved to successfully change the name of Calcutta to Kolkata. The change hasn't really been picked up with any gusto, but there you go.

Kolkata is bursting with people. There may be as much as two times the number of people the city was designed to hold. Unfortunately, a large number of these people live in abject poverty. The poverty level you've seen in movies and heard about through the work of Mother Teresa exists in spades. It is very bad. If you're ever disappointed about your station in life, just investigate or visit Calcutta. You'll find you have nothing to complain about.

From a traveler's perspective, Calcutta is a place that should either be avoided at all costs or a must visit. If you can stand the mass poverty, the city has a surprising artistic underbelly. Art galleries, wild paintings and classic Indian music are on the menu. Huge festivals such as Durga Puja have to be seen to be believed.

If you are going to give Calcutta a go, do not go at any point during June, July or August. While this is the coolest time of the year, it is also monsoon season. Drenching rain and Calcutta are not good mixes.

How About a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding?

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:25 PM | 0 comments »

The most popular wedding locationGetting married at Walt Disney World? It's definitely not a surprizing question, as Walt Disney World is reportedly the most popular wedding/honeymoon location in America since 1995, when Disney went officially into the wedding business. This needs not be proven, as it is only natural for such an event location to be a success. And why is that? When could people express at best their need for fairy-tales and fantastic if not in the most romantic moments of their lives. And what girl has not dreamed of being the fairy or the princess of her Prince Charming? So, what better location than the very Fairy Tale Home, Walt Disney World?Poor taste?Well, don't get frantic when you'll see what I'm about to say. I agree, we live in a world of illusion, we know that, but do we really need to be that obvious about it? I mean, come on, not only seems it a fake, a cartoon event, but it's, in my opinion, a proof of poor taste, it's — allow me this juicy oxymoron — a "kitsch in style" (as if this could be!), and very expensive too! Unless your ethnic background allows or requires marriage at a very early age! With children it's not bad taste, it's children's stuff, it's cartoons, but when it comes to grown-ups, it's already too much! But it's only my opinion, after all, a matter of taste and you know what they say, "it's beautiful if I like it!".CostsPretty or not, tasteful or detestable, who cares after all? A "Disney fairy tale wedding" is an excellent business! The simplest possible wedding at Walt Disney World is about $3,500 — an intimate wedding, with up to 10 guests. The price includes a four-night "honeymoon" at Disney resort, a daylight ceremony, a wedding cake, a bouquet for the bride and a marriage certificate (signed by Mickey!), and several other trimmings, no reception. For a Custom Wedding — a more flexible package, with more than 10 guests, ceremony and personalized reception — the costs start from $7,500.An average Disney wedding with around 100 guests costs $20,000.Leaving aside personal impressions, fact is that at Walt Disney World you may have probably anything you can imagine as long as you can afford it:Cinderella's glass coach (is available for rental for $2,200),a white-dove fly-over (for as little as $250!),private fireworks ($2,500) or confetti cannons ($500),and even the Magic Kingdom (this one would cost $42,000 or more — only to rent for a reception, with no other expenses!).Well, if your mind's made up (and if you have the means), dream on, because you're about to experience the true fairy tale dream-wedding!

Thailand is a land of enchanting and exotic tastes for foreign visitors as I was to learn when I experienced the Water Festival of Loi Kathong on the island of Ko Chang.

Ko Chang

In October 2003, the travel bug seriously bit me. The symptoms led me to sell my business, pack a small backpack with necessary items and roll into Los Angeles International Airport with a major credit card and an attitude. A few days later, I was in Thailand and headed for the island of Ko Chang, located close to the border with Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand.

Ko Chang is a heavily forested island with little towns full of beach huts. This is what I was exactly what I was after. Spending days lounging in the sun and contemplating my navel. Unfortunately, I soon experienced the local bacteria, which was not what I was after.

Since I had rented my beach hut for a week with payment in advance, the family running the place looked me upon favorably. They took pity on me and I was soon growing fat on Tom Yom Kung and other soups and curries. After four days, I had finally kicked the bug and felt halfway human. This was good news as it was the night of the full moon water festival.

I had heard of full moon festivals in Thailand. For hard partying tourists, this was apparently the night the big beach parties happened. In Ko Chang, it was a little different as the night was tailored to the actual Thais, not tourist.

The Loi Kathong Festival happens every full moon. Offerings are given to appease the water spirits. These offerings come in the form of banana leaf bowls with flowers, fruit, candles and incense. The candles and incense are lit and everyone heads down the beach and starts putting them in the water. It is one of the more amazing light shows you will ever see and beats Las Vegas hands down. Thousands, and I mean thousands, of little lights bobbing on the surface of the smooth ocean.

After the bowls comes one of the most visually amazing things I've ever seen. Everyone is familiar with the paper lanterns used in Asia. Typically, they come in the form of a rectangle form with a bamboo or light wire frame. Very popular with college students since they are cheap and look better than a bare light bulb.

For the festival, Thais would take these paper lanterns and close off the top. They would then affix a small this paper plate to the bottom with a candle on it. Light the candle, wait for the heat to do its work and they had an instant hot air balloon. Once the lanterns could float, you simply let go and off the slowly went over the ocean. It was a sight to see as there were thousands of them floating over the water.

As the festival wound down, the ocean had been transformed. The air was full of gracefully floating lanterns while the water itself was dotted with slowly bobbing points of light.

If you intend to travel to Thailand, make sure you schedule your trip around a full moon. It is a scene you'll never forget.

Think Small With Your Next Vacation

If you're looking to get away from the rat race there is nowhere better than a small town. Small towns offer a slower pace, friendly people and a chance to just kick back and relax.

There are small towns all over North America. You don't need to look very far. Within a couple of hours of your home you can probably find a small town. This means no expensive or long and tiring trips. Hop in the car and drive to the nearest small town. Chances are you've been there before. Now you can stop and really explore.

Small towns offer a wide range of accommodations. This includes bed and breakfasts, hotels, and campgrounds. There's something for everyone. No matter your tastes you can find that perfect place to stay. A bed and breakfast is probably your best choice. Staying at a bed and breakfast gives you a chance to visit your hosts and to learn more about the area and the attractions it has to offer.

Once you settle in the next step is to find something to do. Everyone likes to do something different. If it's getting out and exploring or simply kicking back and reading a good book the choice is yours. If you take a little care in selecting your small town you will have endless hours of fun.

One of the most interesting small towns is Wells BC. It is close to Barkerville, and the Bowron Lakes. When you get tired of swimming and hiking go explore the history of an old gold rush town! If you're driving to Alaska it's on the way and spending a day or two there will be well worth it.

Small towns are easier on the pocket book. You don't need to spend a fortune to have a good time. Take in a movie, play or musical event. If you time things right there may even be a free event in a local park. All you have to do is show up! Spend a couple of hours relaxing on the grass listening to some great local music. Better yet, bring a picnic lunch and make a day of it. You'll be glad you did.

Small towns offer an affordable vacation without traveling hours or spending huge amounts of money. Often over looked, small towns are an an idea vacation spot full of fun, new experiences and adventure.

Going to the moon again is causing far more controversy today than it could have back in the sixties. Some Americans doubt we can afford it and others are not sure they have seen the "giant leap for mankind" that the first moon shot promised. It depends on who you ask but don't dare ask me. I didn't think the first moon landing had much significance for reasons that few people share with me.

President Bush announced an ambitious plan to return to the moon by 2013-15 near the birthplace of modern flight, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The centenary of flight celebrations was held in Kill Devil Hills in December of 2003 where the President will announced plans to allow NASA to offer up its best to the effort. With funding from congress to supplement their 15.5 billion dollar existing budget NASA will have to do a great deal of aggressive re-tooling and budget squeezing to pull it off by the proposed deadline.

I have talked to MIT and Harvard grads who still think that if a rocket whizzes by you in space it makes a whooshing sound much like a jet craft does in the atmosphere. Someone forgot to tell them there is no sound where there is no air. So what, you say?

Some of these grads are aware that even if we could travel at warp 9 (Star Trek's imaginary multiplication of the speed of light) that it would take about one hundred thousand years to make the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy and upon return, the earth would be about 1.2 million years older than it is today. But why harp on the small stuff.

Only once since I began a twenty year fascination with Einstein's time/light theory have I heard from anyone connected to NASA who dared to address this fact to a sublimely ignorant public. He was hushed up in the slow lane with indifference and a public that couldn't tell you how the world can make it through the next decade without imploding. With a list of almost infinite problems how can we think of getting people out that far, much less plan for the return of our astronauts after 4000 generations of time.

I'm not anti-science, in fact I think our world has only improved because of it. But science should be no less immune from a serious reality check than was the church in the dark ages. I believe in the bible , and I'm sure it gives us only a very short time to the second coming of Christ. But even at that I would never put the bible against science. I am satisfied that science is the book of how, and the bible is the book of why.

Being a bible believing Christian I also have another view about space travel. It is hard to believe that every Christian may not agree with me. Until the cost of getting to the moon is more affordable if ever, I think the money could be spent more effectively right here on earth and we could be satisfied with singing the official state song of Vermont which is Moonlight in Vermont.

Almost every starving child in the world could be fed and clothed for a decade for the cost of sending up only one moon shot. My bible, my conscience, my common sense and every bone in my body says that would be a far better way to spend the fifteen billion bucks.

I know there are those who will think this is a preposterous proposal and perhaps it is. So I will offer yet one more proposal that I think is on the same level as sticking America with a fifteen billion dollar bill just to bring back a few moon rocks. We could look for that cow, you know, the one who jumped over the moon. We could train his aim for a while so he could hit the darned moon next time. He could jump back with the rocks and dust for our scientists to look over and we'd save a bundle of taxpayers cash.

"Blue moon I saw you standing alone, without a dream in your heart" Watch out, we're back!

Finding The Honey In Honeymoon Lingerie

Posted by Wealth Group | 5:38 AM | 0 comments »

Imagine the scene: Your bedroom is illuminated with the smoldering glow of a hundred scented candles, you have soft music playing in the background, the champagne is chilling, and you've covered the bed in rose petals and teensy-weensy heart shaped chocolates (OK, cut the chocolates, they may get messy unless you eat them first!)

Feeling luxuriously languid in your silk negligee, you lounge against the bedroom door, caressing the door jamb like it's a small fluffy puppy. A gentle intake of breath... Yes, you've attracted his attention and he turns slowly to eye you from top to toe. "Could you turn the music down, love? I can't hear the game."

Now if this was your honeymoon, I'd be checking out the pre-nup by now. But thankfully (or hopefully, whichever is the case) this scenario may well be what you'll come to expect down the track if you don't keep your own on the ball (so to speak!)

Because unfortunately gals, unless you are one of the infinitesimal number of lucky women who finds herself with a really-truly romantic kinda guy, it's up to us to keep the spice in the hot pot we call romance. And certainly the time to put those ingredients on to boil is during your honeymoon.

Whoever said "If love is blind, then why is lingerie so popular?" certainly knew what he (or she) was talking about. Your honeymoon is that strange hiatus between the fairytale of your wedding day and the soap-opera that will become real married life. It's a time to get to know each other - intimately.

And that, my friends, is why honeymoon lingerie is one of the most successful and popular items currently bought on the Internet. And I said "bought', not "ogled at"!

Young women in their droves are searching online honeymoon lingerie sites looking for that one special item (or maybe more if your heart and wallet desires) that may get your man to take his hands off the remote control and on to you.

The secret to buying the perfect honeymoon lingerie is to compromise (and isn't that what marriage is all about?) between what makes you feel fabulous, flirty, sexy and ready for anything and what your man loves to see you in - besides nothing at all! There's simply not much point in organza and French Chantilly lace if you rock your new hubby's socks when you are wearing his Y-fronts with his 20-year-old Rangers T-shirt. A suitable compromise might be a perky DKNY cotton cami and boy-leg shorts set.

Similarly, you don't want to permanently damage the delicate psyche of your romantic-at-heart if you appear on Day 2 of your honeymoon in your pilled and tattered trakky. He's going to wonder if he married his Juliet or a grunge-band junkie.

Honeymoon lingerie has come out of the closet (so to speak!) and gone uptown in an array of colors and styles that would suit even the most coy of new brides. If the whole white lacy suspender-and-stockings-number makes you want to run to the nearest divorce lawyer, you'll be thrilled with the latest range of honeymoon lingerie available online.

"New brides are becoming color conscious - purchasing lingerie in a rainbow of colors is the trend. We are seeing honeymooners purchase sexy, classic and gorgeous lingerie for their "big day" and "afterwards", not restricting themselves to the traditional white or black any more," says Jeanine Brown from the funky and fashionable online lingerie store www.cheekyedge.com."Aqua and red were the most popular colors this past season and pale greens, lilacs and soft baby pinks are currently popular."

So, there you have it. From sexy, sporty cropped tops and boy-leg shorts, to the glamour of a silk peignoir; from cheeky, flirty baby-dolls to the sultry seductiveness of black teddies, honeymoon lingerie offers you so many choices, it would take a strong woman to stop at one. But then you did choose just one marriage partner, so now all you have to tackle is that remote. . .
